What is a Notary?
A Notary Public is a public servant appointed by state government to witness the signing of important documents
and administer oaths.
Why are documents notarized?
Documents are notarized to deter fraud and to ensure they are properly
executed. An impartial witness, (the notary), identifies signers to screen out
impostors and to make sure they have entered into agreements knowingly and
willingly.
How does a Maverick Notary identify a signer?
The Maverick Signer will ask to see a current driver's license, or, in the case
of a non-licensed co-signer, an identification document or card with a
photograph, physical description and signature. An Affidavit of Identity is
filled out and notarized for each signer of your documents. These affidavits
are returned with your docs to be filed with the deal.
Is notarization required by law?
For many documents, yes. Certain affidavits, deeds and powers of attorney may
not be legally binding unless they are properly notarized. Some states may
require notarization of certain DMV documents or contracts. Please check with
your state DMV for regulations and requirements.
With other documents, no. Private entities and individuals may require notarization to strengthen
the document and to protect it from fraud.
Does notarization make a document "true" or
"legal"?
No. A notarization typically means the signer acknowledged to the notary that
he or she signed the document stating the affirmation of their identity
pertaining to their transaction.
Why should I use your
services? We have been selling vehicles offsite with no problems?
Most dealerships only go after offsite or out-of-state
business when the risk is minimal; otherwise, you know you are playing Russian
roulette.
Typically, these transactions are cash only. The drawback is
waiting for monies to clear, lengthy contract in transit times, documents not signed correctly and still you have the clear
possibility of fraudulent transactions or cash money laundering scams.
Our signers are all state-commissioned, trained and Maverick-certified to handle your transactions quickly, accurately and give a much
greater layer of security to the whole transaction.
Being able to
streamline offsite documentation signing and greatly reduce the inherent risks
of these transactions, translates into increased sales and profitability for
your store!
